Car Donation, Junk Car Donation and Vehicle Donation, How Does it Work?
The auto donation process is easy for our customers, but a lot goes on behind the scenes to process a donated car, truck, van, RV or motorcycle.
After you have called us toll free at 866-697-0697 or completed the blue “Donate Now” box to arrange for your free tow, here’s what happens:
Step 1: The donated vehicle is towed for free to one of our preferred auto auctions throughout the U.S.
Step 2: The vehicle is inspected by our onsite representative at the auction to insure that it is properly prepared to get the highest possible value.
Step 3: The vehicle is sold to the highest bidder and the title work is completed.
Step 4: We then quickly email/mail you a Vehicle Donation Receipt. If the vehicle sells for less than $500.00 you will receive a Vehicle Donation Confirmation. If it sells form more than $500.00 we will mail you an IRS, 1098-C form 30 days after the date of sale. It will indicate the amount you can deduct on your taxes.
(If the vehicle is sold for less than $500, you can claim the fair market value of your vehicle up to $500 or the amount it is sold for if less than fair market value. If the vehicle sells for more than $500, you can claim the exact amount for which the vehicle is sold.)
Step 5: After 30-days of the sale we mail a check to the charity you’ve chosen from the proceeds of the sale.
